Kuszczak – 7 – Did well in goal, particularly with a fantastic save to deny Diamanti. Needs to work on his distribution of the ball though.
Fletcher – 7 – Continues to impress with his performances. Playing out of position in defence and he still did his job well.
Neville – 5 – Barely made an impact on the game before pulling up with a groin injury. Replaced by Carrick.
Brown – 7 – Did well in an unusual looking United defence, providing a solid base for the team. Limped off towards the end to leave United with 10 men.
Evra – 8 – Another attacking display on the left side. Performed his defensive duties well and looked threatening whenever he ventured forward.
Gibson – 7 – Industrious display in the first half was rewarded with a brilliant goal in the second. Making a name for himself with his wonder goals.
Anderson – 7 – Determined display in midfield, breaking up play and setting the team on their way. Assist for Valencia’s goal.
Valencia – 7 – His attacking play made sure that Ilunga was unable to get forward. Capped his performance off with another goal.
Scholes – 8 – Brilliant goal in the first half. Performed like the Scholes of old, controlling the midfield masterfully.
Giggs – 7 – Another impressive display from the veteran, linking play well and providing a continuous supply of crosses.
Rooney – 7 – Held the ball up well as the lone striker and deserved his goal after all of his hard work.
Subs:
Owen – 5 – Made little to no impression after replacing Rooney, possibly due to a lack of playing time or the fact that the game was over as a contest.
Berbatov – 5 – Had very little time to make an impact when the game was already won.
Carrick – 7 – Not troubled as a make shift centre back.
