Van Der Sar – 6 – Had more to do than he would have liked due to some poor United defending but quick reactions ensured he kept a clean sheet.

Neville – 5 – Is starting to look past his best as he was easily outdone by Chris Eagles.

Brown – 5 – Hasn’t really recovered from injury and didn’t perform that well.

Evans – 5 – Looked flustered in defence but showed some confidence bringing the ball forward.

Evra – 6 – His usual energetic self heading forwards, but was left exposed at the back due to Nani’s reluctance to track back.

Valencia – 7 – Looked really confident on the ball with several good crosses and set up Diouf for his debut goal.

Carrick – 5 – Couldn’t really get himself involved in the game and failed to find the passes to send United forward.

Scholes – 6 – Not one of his better performances as he was rarely able to get himself in the Burnley area.

Nani – 6 – Not as frustrating as usual. Forced several saves from Jensen as he looked to add some spark to United’s attacks. Perhaps he realises he’s playing for his Old Trafford future.

Berbatov – 6 – Got United’s first goal but was largely ineffective. A reported knee injury could be the cause.

Rooney – 8 – All action display, highlighting his importance to the side. Took his goal very well and was easily United’s best player.

Subs:

Owen – n/a – Barely made an impact.

Anderson – 7 – Energetic display when he came on. He’s starting to show some real promise with his recent performances.

Diouf – 7 – Marked his Old Trafford debut with a good headed goal and hopefully he’ll continue to make an impact for the side.
