Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested that Rio Ferdinand could make his long awaited return to the Manchester United first team against Hull this Saturday.
Ferdinand has been absent for the past three months with a troublesome back injury but could partner Jonny Evans at the back.
Dimitar Berbatov could also return for the Champions after recovering from a dead leg that saw him miss Tuesday’s Carling Cup game with Manchester City.
With title rivals Arsenal and Chelsea in action in the FA Cup, United have the chance to claim top spot in the league for the first time since October if they can get the three points.
Sir Alex Ferguson has called on his players to step up their efforts in an attempt to claim a record breaking fourth straight league title.
“You have to win your games now,” he said. “Top of the league is the best place to be. Our game is the only one in the Premier League so it is an opportunity for us.”
Hull’s new loan signing Amr Zaki, who spent last year on loan at Wigan, is unavailable for the game due to a lack of fitness.
United have never lost a league game at home to Hull and the fans will be hoping that this record continues tomorrow.
What do you think United’s chances are against Hull? Will they be able to return to the top of the league or will Hull spoil Rio Ferdinand’s return to the first team?
