Welbeck Has High Hopes For Loan Spell

Danny Welbeck is enjoying the first team experience that he’s currently getting on loan at Preston North End, and has high hopes for the end of the season.
The young striker, who has already scored twice since the move to Deepdale, hopes that he can fire Darren Ferguson’s side into the play-off places.
Although Preston are currently lying in 14th position in the Championship, they are still only eight points behind Leicester City in sixth place, and Welbeck is confident of success:
“Our main aim is to reach the play-offs,” he told ManUtd.com. “The players aren’t ready to settle for being a mid-table Championship side and neither is the manager. He wants to manage in the Premier League and he won’t be happy with second best. He wants to take Preston forward.
“It’s a great club with a rich history and Darren Ferguson wants to take them back to the top flight. He wouldn’t be here if he didn’t think he could take Preston into the Premier League. He’s always looking for you to improve as a player and for the team to improve. Everybody here is the same – it’s an ambitious set-up.”
This highly ambitious set-up seems like the perfect place for Welbeck to develop from a precocious young talent, into a well rounded young footballer. He is already highly regarded within Old Trafford, and looks set for a bright future with the club when he returns in the summer.
With the likes of Berbatov and Owen failing to impress this season, Welbeck could get his chance at Old Trafford sooner than expected.
He is clearly enjoying the chance of regular football and seems to have the perfect attitude to help him progress as a player.
“It’s going well so far and I’m really enjoying playing week-in, week-out. Actually, in the Championship you tend to play two games a week, so it’s been a great experience so far. Playing regular football was the big idea behind me going out on loan and it should help me progress as a player.”
Do you think that United will reap the rewards of Welbeck’s loan when he returns to Old Trafford in the summer, and will he be pushing for a starting spot after some impressive performances on loan?
