Michael Owen expecting United to bounce back against Aldershot

Just two days after Sunday’s 6-1 humiliation at the hands of Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City, Sir Alex’s men travel away to League Two outfit Aldershot Town in the Carling Cup,

It is likely to be a very different line up to the one which was beaten so clinically at home by City, although its expected that the side is not to be as weak as previous teams United have fielded in previous Carling Cup ties with Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov expected to feature aswell as Michael Owen whose two goals in the last round against Leeds inspired United’s victory, United’s captain Nemanja Vidic could also return in place of the suspended Jonny Evans after his red card on Sunday against City.

A win for United would make it there 100th victory in the League Cup, their last fourth round defeat came 5 years ago against Southend, when a Freddy Eastwood free kick was the difference between the two teams, in a United side that included both Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

With Aldershot currently sitting 15th in League Two it is expected to be a game which United come out on top in but Dean Holdsworth, the former Wimbeldon and Bolton Wanderers player and now manager of Aldershot expects his side to give a good performance on the evening and said how “immensely proud we are to be hosting Manchester United.”

Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping that his team bounce back following Sundays defeat even though the team is to be a big change from Sundays line up, he said how its “in the history of Manchester United to bounce back and recover”.
